Because of a cold front, the whole of Ningxia experienced snowfall on January 29‑30. The cities of Wuzhong, Zhongwei and Guyuan saw light to moderate snow, which built up on roads, caused ice, and reduced visibility. This made highway travel and everyday trips difficult and created safety hazards.

Patrols were increased, snow‑plows and spreading machines were dispatched, and priority was given to sharp curves, steep grades, bridges and other spots that freeze easily.
